DeepSeek has unveiled a creator mode that lets users of its DeepSeek Harness app build custom plugins by describing them in plain English. To recreate the company's demos, a user copies a prompt into DeepSeek Harness and selects the Creator Mode option. The feature is the Hangzhou-based company's latest move to bolster its AI agent offerings.

Users can "turn ideas into plugins that you can use," the DeepSeek Harness team said in a post on X. The plugins are meant to help with a range of complex tasks.

What the prompts ask for

DeepSeek has published the prompts for the demos in its Creator Mode video. The first asks for a left sidebar entry that renders 3D models of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City and a fourth famous building the software picks.

The second wants "an interactive 3D demonstration game that helps me understand the computation inside a Transformer." It also tells the software to keep the panel title and toolbar clear of the native macOS window buttons so they do not overlap.

The third lets a user change the look of the entire app. A pixelated look is one of the options.

The fourth builds a poster design workbench using the shader background pattern and English font from the DeepSeek Harness website. The prompt sets the default poster title to "Everything is a plugin" and asks for a minimal page with no unnecessary subheadings.

Video, papers and statistics

The fifth prompt describes a video editing workbench with a dark interface and the familiar interactions of established video editors. It calls for uploading multiple videos, editing and exporting, with a large preview at the top and a timeline below. It also asks that a user be able to import and edit videos through natural-language requests in the conversation.

The sixth is a paper reader in the right sidebar. It is told to "preserve the original layout, fonts, images, and all other content without any loss." Selecting text brings up a floating menu with options to highlight it, add a note or ask about it in the conversation.

The seventh is a statistics plugin based on the user's actual conversation data. It shows total token usage, conversation count, and estimated costs and budget based on that usage, along with a token-usage timeline and CPU activity.

DeepSeek's own caveat

Above the prompts, DeepSeek adds a caveat. "Some plugins were refined through several rounds of conversation, so a single prompt may not reproduce exactly what you see in the video." The note ends: "Thanks for understanding."

The dsh-superagent prototype

DeepSeek has also released a research prototype of dsh-superagent, a coding agent that does work on a GitHub repository.

The agent gets to work in two situations: an allowed user asks for something, or a rule the team wrote covers it. A message, comment or quoted document can't expand what the agent is allowed to do, since the host enforces the lists and rules.

By default, requests that aren't explicit, such as an unaddressed message, a bot's message or a follow-up from an unlisted person, are assessed and recorded as ones the agent would have accepted. None is accepted. The advice is to switch to auto after reviewing those records.

A prompt called Delivery requirements controls auto-merge, and the host adds no merge logic of its own. By default the agent doesn't turn on auto-merge under its own account, because GitHub credits the merge to whoever enabled it. Help Net Security's write-up states the result: "Unless the prompt names another account for merging, people merge."

Will a single prompt reproduce what the video shows?

It may not. DeepSeek says some plugins were refined through several rounds of conversation, so a single prompt may not reproduce exactly what the video shows.

What do the demos show?

DeepSeek showcased ways to make plugins to render 3D models as well as a video editing workbench, among other examples.

What is dsh-superagent?
