At 3:19 a.m. Berlin time on October 22, Marco Hillger made a TypeWhisper commit that opened Speakers links in History, retried unsaved files and added missing Recorder speaker records. Another change, preserving speaker names through sync and undo, had landed half an hour earlier. The developer lives in Zeuthen, south of Berlin. The commit log puts him at work three nights before the next stable release.
He made 748 of the 871 commits to the macOS app in the past six months.
Hillger built the app after a stroke left him unable to type for sustained periods.
We at Implicator have dictated close to 100,000 words through TypeWhisper on 126 days since May 19. We think it is the best AI dictation app available.
Other apps either bind you to their own cloud AI, with Wispr Flow Pro at $15 a month billed monthly and Aqua Voice Max at $24 to $30 a month as of October 8, or lack custom workflows. TypeWhisper lets us configure fine details and choose among many models, including those installed locally on the Mac. (We paid for our TypeWhisper commercial license ourselves.)
